Virginia Perigen Obituary

Virginia Elmore Perigen, 89, of Roanoke, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 27, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy William "Bill" Perigen Sr.; and a brother, Marcus Elmore. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a devoted, and faithful, Christian. Mrs. Perigen was a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Barbara (Jan) McHone, Sue Huffman and husband, John, all of Roanoke, Jo Hawley and husband, Mike, of Goodview, and Roy (Bill) Perigen Jr. and wife, Brenda Sue, also of Roanoke; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Helen Elmore, of Roanoke, and Lewanna Bankston, of California. A special thanks to Eva Arnold, Mrs. Perigen's longtime caregiver. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Missions Fund, c/o Shenandoah Baptist Church, 6520 Williamson Road, Roanoke, Va. 24019. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by the Rev. Art Hearne. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday until service time. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory, 540-366-0707.
