Avis Quesenberry Obituary

Avis Blane Quesenberry, 89, of Pulaski passed away Thursday July 2, 2009 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born in Carroll County on November 12, 1919 and was the son of the late Harley and Larmie Turpin Quesenberry. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, infant son, Danny, brothers, Navy, Harley, Iford and Harvey and sisters, Annie Curto and Macie Patton. At the age of two he moved with his family to the coal mining community of Six, W.Va., where he resided until his early twenties when he moved to Pulaski. During World War II he worked at the Bag Loading Plant, where he met his bride, Ruth Mitchell. They were married on August 6, 1945. He was employed by RCA and later at Pulaski Furniture, where he worked for over 35 years. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Edward Lawson, of Melbourne, Fla., sons and daughters-in-law, David and Doris Quesenberry, of Pulaski and Michael and Leesa Quesenberry, of Dublin; grandsons and spouses, Randy and Natalie Quesenberry, of Fairlawn, Scott and Karen Quesenberry of Chantilly, Va., Chad and Drew Lawson of Florida, Darrin and Richard Quesenberry, of Dublin; granddaughter and husband, Kristia and Myles O'Neill, of Florida; also seven great-grandchildren, Chandler, Hunter and Kerrigan Quesenberry, of Fairlawn, Taeghan, Aislinn, Kenzie and Kylinn O'Neill, of Florida. He has one surviving brother and sister-in-law, Coy and Ethelene Quesenberry, of Pulaski. He has many nieces, nephews and cousins, including one special cousin, Vinton Quesenberry and his wife, Helen, of Indian Valley. Funeral service will be held Monday July 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Vinton Quesenberry officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. Visiting will be Sunday evening from the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. The family will be meeting at the residence of the son and daughter-in-law, David and Doris Quesenberry, 5624 Thornspring Road, Pulaski. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.

Elaine, Mike, and David, I wanted to come up to the services, but I see they are planned tomorrow. I have conflicting dates. I will always remember Uncle Avis, I am sorry I did not see him. I know all three of you have good memories of him. He is with all of our family now.
