Charles R. Walls

Charles Robert (Ta Ta) Walls, 70, of Ivanhoe, Va., passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009. He was born November 21, 1938, in Wythe County, Va., son of the late Helen S. Walls. He was a member of Iva Lodge #173 Independent Order of Odd Fellows and retired from RAAP. He is survived by his wife, Betty Walls, of the home; one step daughter, Pam Shupe; three stepsons, Tim Monahan, Jeff and Robyn Monahan, Kenny Monahan and fiancée, Maretta Quesenberry, all of Ivanhoe; one sister, Jean and Clinton King, of Ivanhoe; one brother, Nickie L. Walls and Renate, of Evans, Ga.; six step grandchildren; four stepgreatgrandchildren; nephews, James "Happy" and Kalli King, Dirk and Leah Zettelmeier, and Donald and Judy Walls; great-nephews, Jason Stump and Kevin Zettelmeier; and great-nieces, Katrina King and Kallista King. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the Reese Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Hal Lewis officiating. Iva Lodge #173 Independent Order of Odd Fellows will conduct a memorial service. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009, in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to Lead Mines Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 502, Austinville, Va. 24312.
