I was the Athletic Director at VWCC when LaCole played on our women's basketball team. I Just heard today of her passing. God has taken a wonderful, cheerful, and happy young lady and her unborn twins to be on his team in heaven.

LaCole an I went to school together from Kindergarten to 12th grade. She carried a smile that could light up a room and always had a spunk about her that made her who she was & made everyone love her! She will be greatly missed & always remembered. We grieve deeply with you on the loss of Lacole. We all knew her as a caring and loving mom to her son, a wonderful co-worker, a selfless great teammate, an outstanding basketball player, a wonderful friend and we will miss those relationships with her. Above all of those things however she was to you and family your loving child and her passing has left a void that will never be filled. We only wish that we could in some way ease your pain. My family first remembers Lacole from our days of coaching rec ball. Playing against her team for the first time we could not help wonder “who that kid was!” Man, could she shoot. Watching her play, again for the other team, in high school the same thoughts were always there…what a talent. When the opportunity to have her participate on our AAU team arose it was wonderful. She never let us down when it came to showing up for practice or giving it her all. She was the “go to girl” for that last second shot to win the game. When we were coaching at the local junior college and Lacole showed up for that first tryout our hearts jumped with excitement. Once again we had our “go to girl”. She was in our opinion the best 3 point shooter that this Valley, if not beyond, has ever seen. We were very fortunate to have her contribute to our success for three exciting years. During those years one could see her grow in so many ways. Lacole was indeed a great teammate, but I can tell you she was more than that to the girls, she was a good friend as well. As for the Coaches, we always found her to be prompt, giving her all, never questioning direction, dedicated, and she became part of our extended family as well. She will truly be missed by many. Many will say that she was so young. True. We have always told our players that basketball, in so many ways, is like life in miniature. If one believes that is so, then we can take heart that Lacole lived a fulfilling life as we all know that she was very successful at this and never happier every time she stepped on the floor. We will never forget Lacole and our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time.

Erin was always proud that she wore #12 at William Byrd like LaCole because she had been such a great ball player on the court and friend and mentor off the court. Mollie loved her too, and even in the years since high school, we’ve always enjoyed bumping into LaCole and catching up with her.
