Sadie Vest White

Sadie vest White, 83, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Montgomery Regional Hospital, Blacksburg. She was born on December 7, 1925, at White Gate, Va., the daughter of the late John Covington and Julia May Thompson Vest. She was also preceded in death by husbands, William Howard Wheeling and James Bullard King; sisters, Mildred V. Stafford, Wilma V. Blackburn, and Josephine V. Melvin; a half sister, Lucille Buchanan; and brothers, Luther Powell, James J., John C. Jr. and Ross M. (Don) Vest. She was retired from the dietary department at Pulaski Hospital. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol W. and Bob Smith, of Blacksburg, and Patricia (Patty Ann) and David Bryant, of Wilmington, N.C.; one sister, Mary V. Albert, of Pearisburg; two grandchildren, John D. Lowman Jr. (Beth) and Alex Bryant; three greatgrandchildren, Melissa Perdue, Brandon Perdue, and Brittany Bryant; and five great-greatgrandchildren, Autumn Perdue, Summer Perdue, Cheyanne Perdue, Morgan Perdue, and Elizabeth Ann Lowman. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate with the Rev. Shahn Wilburn and Charles Henderson officiating. Burial in the Newbern Cemetery, Newbern. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. until noon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1942.
