Wanda Fant Obituary

Wanda Main Fant, 53, of Culpeper, Va., passed away in her home on Sunday, July 5, 2009. A gentle spirit and loyal friend, Wanda was loved by all who knew her. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her children say that she was quick to welcome their friends into her home and treat them as her own. None went hungry and all were accepted for who they were. Gracious and forgiving, she preferred to see the good in people. Even when life was not generous to her, she found beauty and delight in what she had. She was born on February 14, 1956, in Lynchburg, Va., to Ruth Main, who preceded her in death in 1998. As a young girl, she traveled the world as part of a military family, living in Germany and Japan, as well as several states, including Hawaii, Massachusetts, Texas, and Virginia. Wanda is survived by her daughter, Ashley Fant, of Radford, Va.; a son, Kemper "Trey" Fant III, of Roanoke, Va.; her former husband, Kemp Fant, of Roanoke, Va.; her father, Floyd Main, of Locust Grove; her sisters, Melody Widor and her husband, Jeff, of Locust Grove, and Valerie Main, of Culpeper; two half sisters, Kathy Winkie and her husband, Wade, of Kansas City, Mo., and Linda Milks, of Buffalo, N.Y.; many nephews and nieces; and several great-nephews and great-nieces. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 23557 Germanna Hwy., Lignum, Va. Flowers are welcomed at the church or memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. An online guestbook is available for condolences at www.foundandsons.com. Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 800-207-3530, is handling the arrangements.

Trey and Ashley - your Mom was a special lady and will be missed by the many folks whose lives she touched. I met your parents in a bowling league in the 80s and got to know Wanda better through Wolverine. I was fortunate to count her as a friend. I hope you can find comfort in the knowledge that she is better off than all of us now.

To Papa Floyd, Ashley, Trey, Kemper, and the Jeff Widor Family,
~~What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.~~
Wanda was a part of the extended Widor Family and touched our hearts in a very special way.
We will keep you all in prayer!
God Bless,
Anna Widor Beach and Family

Ashley & Trey,
I was in circle with you mom at St. Paul in C'burg. She was a wonderful person. Always had a smile on her face, she never met a stranger. I hope that you know that she is in heaven now with God sharing her wonderful smile and spontaneous laugh with him. May grant you peace and comfort at this time of grief. You have the prayers of all who knew her at her old church and circle. We love you and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

My deepest sympathy to the Fant Family. I knew Wanda in the early 1980's when she worked at Skyland Lodge. She was a beautiful, friendly and loving person.
