Roger Lynn McCarty

Roger Lynn McCarty, 58, of Hardy, Va., passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009, at his residence. He was a son of the late Kenneth Rudolph McCarty and Cleo Marie Pratt McCarty and was a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara McCarty Story and Patricia Ann Welch; and a brother, Douglas R. McCarty. Survivors include his wife, Debra Davis McCarty; children, Bobbie McCarty Hutchens and her husband, John, Christie Wertz, Renee Kinser and her husband, Stacy; grandchildren, Christian "June Bug" McCarty, Taylor Brezendine, Brooklyn Nichols, Atlanta Kinser and Laney Hutchens; sisters, Carolyn M. Smith and Darlene M. Jordan; brother, Kenneth "Butch" McCarty and wife, Sharon; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alvin and Barbara Davis; special uncle and aunt, Glenwood and Helen McCarty; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Teresa and Jim Grose, Tina and Gary Sensabaugh, and Michael and Charlene Davis; best friends, Terry Overstreet and Eddie Boothe; special friends , Lana and Lloyd Moore; loving pets, Sissy and Booger. Many special nieces and nephews and many special friends also survive. The family will receive friends at Gravel Hill Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, from 6 to 9p.m. with Pastor Burrell Baker ending the visitation with a prayer at 9 p.m. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
