Lila Elkins Obituary

Lila Stevens Elkins, 89, of Thaxton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday July 11, 2009. She was a member of the Faith Life Baptist Church in Montvale. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy T. Elkins; son, Billy Elkins; her father and mother; three brothers; and three sisters. Surviving are two daughters and son-in-law, Frances and Bob Stout, of Burnt Chimney, Nancy Lanier, of Buchanan; four grandchildren, Carol Sue McGuire, Robert E. E. Stout II, Lisa Elkins Fink and Jack A. Lanier Jr.; five greatgrandchildren; sister, Minnie Hudenwitz, of Lynchburg; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Clark, of Roanoke; a very special friend, Jerry Deel, of Fincastle. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Faith Life Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at the Faith Life Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday July 14, 2009, with the Rev. Roger McKinney officiating. Interment will be in the Montvale Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends form 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday before the service at the church. Arrangements are by Oakey's East Chapel, 977-3909.
