Sarah Lawson Obituary

Sarah Elizabeth Manns Lawson was the daughter of the late Eugene and Beatrice Eaves Manns. She departed this life at her home on Sunday, July 12, 2009. Mrs. Lawson was married to the late Jesse M. Lawson Sr. who preceded her in death on January 30, 2000. To this union was born a son, Jesse Jr. She was employed with the McVitty family of Salem for a number of years and retired from Lewis-Gale Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Jesse M. Lawson Jr.; two grandsons, Travis Watkins and Justin Lawson; three greatgrandchildren; a nephew, the Rev. Robert (Savanna) Shepherd III; three nieces, Sharon S. Williams, of Roanoke, Joyce A. Shepherd, of Salem and Diane Eaves, of Washington, D.C.; two sistersin-law, Emma S. Eaves, of Washington, D.C., and Annie B. Manns, of Roanoke; devoted cousin, Mattie Mann; close friend, Linda Lawson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, July 17, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Salem with the Rev. Melton Johnson officiating. The interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Friends may call on Thursday afternoon, July 16, 2009, for viewing at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. I remember the support she provided for Joyce through some rough times. I always enjoyed her visits and when she would ride with us in the van. She'll be missed at the Pig Roast!
