Henry Ostendorf Obituary

Henry Loyd Ostendorf, of Troutville, Va., passed away July 11, 2009 at the age of 81 with his loving family surrounding him. Born August 6, 1927 in Jewell Ridge, Va., he was the only son of the late Henry Theodore and Dorothy Rosebud (Horn) Ostendorf. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cleta Ferguson Ostendorf; three sons and their wives, Ray and Jeanie Ostendorf, of West Virginia, Randy and Tonia Ostendorf, of Salem, Russell and Donna Ostendorf, of Roanoke; one daughter, Robin Ostendorf Hosey, of Catawba; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Era Ostendorf Shufflebarger, of Roanoke and Lois Ostendorf Talley, of California. Henry was retired from Lone Star Cement after 37 years of service as the Head Machinist where he was often called "Sonny". He was active in several organizations over his lifetime including Catawba Valley Ruritan, Boy Scouts of America and, most currently, The Knights of Columbus. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Monday, July 13, 2009. A graveside service will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 with Bishop William Brown, Jr. officiating.

I was very sorry to hear that Henry was sick and then that he passed away. I'm sorry I couldn't come to the funeral home or the graveside.
