Dear Alice and family -- I was so saddened to hear yesterday from my Dad of Jim's passing. Jim was such a wonderful youth pastor to me so many years ago and He sure showed me the right path. We spoke a few times in my adult life and I know Jim was a wonderful man and ministered a lot for the poor and the needy. Alice will be praying for you and your family in this time of loss. May the Lord provide you with comfort and peace as only He can do.

Dear Alice and girls,
Our prayers have been with you and will continue to be as you go through this most difficult time. Although we were mostly acquaintances we shared many friends at Providence Yorktown and Wesley Memorial Norfolk with you. Our daughter, Rayna attended VOY with yours and shares her love and prayers, too. Alice, we are not far down the street from you...in Quinton. If there is anything our church family can do for you, please do not hesitate to ask. Our deepest sympathy.

Dear Alice,
No one can say anything about Jim that you don't already know, many times over. Everyone of us, in "our group" at Calvary were transformed into a higher calling for one another because of Jim and what he brought into each of our lives. His compassion for his fellow man surpassed anyone I have ever known.
Although many quotes and antedotes come to mind, the single most poignant one is, "don't put the burden on someone who is hurting by saying let me know what I can do", "just go and do"..that was Jim, He would go and do, and didn't think twice about it. His wit and charm allowed him to make a difference to those who may never have known God without him.
A true servant of God and an infinite blessing to everyone who's lives he touched.
God bless you and your family in this horrific loss, and may the comfort of our Lord Jesus give you rest.
Love,
Belinda

Alice, Katie, & Annie,
We were saddened to hear about Jim's passing. I wish we could have been there for the funeral, but we were on vacation. I just wanted to let you know that Jim and his family meant so much to us. All of you will always have a special place in our hearts. Every time we pass a Krispy Creme donuts with the light on, we think of Jim. He introduced us to that wonderful delight when he surprised us with a box of warm donuts one night. We will always have that memory. All the lunches with him and his family after church was great, too. God needed someone like Jim in Heaven. We all know that he will keep everyone laughing in Heaven. Please know that we love you all and if you need anything, call us anytime. Please keep us informed when Katie has her baby. Her daddy will be looking down from Heaven when that baby is born. We were all blessed to have known Jim Hundley. I thank God everyday for bringing Jim Hundley and his family into our lives.

Jim Hundley was a wonderful Pastor and friend to our family. We never wanted to miss his sermons, even if we were "squirming" in our seats. He always got to the point and told it like it was. We are blessed that he came to visit our Church recently and we got to catch up. I'm sure he will be missed dearly by his family and new church. Our prayers to the family.

Jimmy and I grew up in the same neighborhood, went to the same schools and graduated high school together. We spent countless hours in our yards playing and being kids. He was always the "good guy" and never had a bad word to say about anyone. We lost touch as adults but I am not at all surprised that he became a minister and set his life on God's path. From the entries here he obviously grew into an incredible, loving, Godly man. Heaven is a better place because Jimmy is there, and we all are wonderfully Blessed to have known him. I am so very sorry for your loss. You will all be in my prayers.

Dear Alice and girls and Steve and family, Jimmy was one of my closest high school friends. From "Cheaper By the Dozen" to after activities hanging out with the whole group at the Pizza Hut down in Sandston...I have such wonderful memories of him and his love for life. A bunch of us ate lunch together every day for at least two years. I can't even begin to count the times he tried to talk me out of my cookies from my home packed lunch by staring at me with puppy dog eyes. I've just recently been back in touch with him occasionally through Facebook - and I'm so overwhelmed by his death, I don't even know where to begin with my condolences. I am so sorry for your loss. Jimmy was bigger than life even as a teenager - I know he had to have been a wonderful husband and father as well as minister. God Bless and Comfort all of you at this time.
