David Cook Obituary

David Leon Cook, 47, of Vinton, Va., and formerly of Salem, Va., passed away Monday, July 13, 2009. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, MacKenzie Kesler. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Cook; daughters, Jessica Cook Dehart, Jessica Mills and husband, Ricky, Audrey Parkhurst, and Brandy Parkhurst; parents, Phyllis and Leonard Wagoner, and Ben and Margaret Cook; grandparents, Ernest and Clara Widener; two brothers, Benny Cook, and Ronnie Cook and wife, Cindy; four grandchildren, Erica, Tanner, Dylan and Anna; five nieces and nephews, Kristie Statts, Katie and Chris Cook, and Abby and Noah Cook; special friend, Corey Carter; and numerous other special and close friends and relatives. David served our country in the United States Army and loved the outdoors. He was an avid Steelers football fan. He will be sadly missed by many because of his generous heart. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2009, at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, July 16, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.johnmoakey.com.
