Stella Katherine Wall Orey

Stella Orey Obituary

Stella Katherine Wall Orey, 72, of Narrows, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on March 27, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Earnest and Thelma Tester Wall. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Donald Guy Wall, Newton Wall, Gerald Wall, Paul Wall and Gene Wall; and an infant sister, Elizabeth Wall; and two very special cousins, whom she considered as a sister and brother, Rissie Hughes and Henry Conley. After the death of her parents at an early age, she grew up living with her aunt, Kathleen Wall Conley, on Wolf Creek. Stella was a faithful member of Riverview Baptist Church, and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and enjoyed sharing her creations with her family and friends. She'll be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years, David S. Orey, of Narrows; four daughters, Debbie Cady, of Goldbond, Shelia Banes and husband, Darrell, of Narrows, Darlene McKinney and husband, Timmy, of Staffordsville, and Michelle Green and husband, David, of Narrows; three grandchildren, Katie Cady, Garrett Green, and Logan Green; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and two very special family members, Nona Conley and Lorene Blankenship, both of Narrows, whom Stella considered as sisters. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2009, in the chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service on Sunday, July 19, 2009, from 6 to 9 p.m. The family requests that those sending memorial contributions, please consider Riverview Baptist Church, 219 Big Stony Creek Road, Ripplemead, Va. 24150, to be earmarked for Faith Overseas Ministries. Online condolence messages to the family can be sent to www.riffes.com.

Michelle & David Green & Orey Family,

My prayer of comfort, peace, and strength are with you and your family during this difficult time. I will always remember Mrs. Orey's smiling face. I will definately remember her cooking, especially her "meatballs", and her love for shopping, and always keeping me and Michelle in line. She will be greatly missed. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. I love y'all.
