Clifton Anderson Obituary

Clifton Elton Anderson, 69, of 1530 Grove Drive Pulaski, Va., born November 19, 1939, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 17, 2009 at his residence with his family by his side. He passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Elton was the son of the late James W. and Grace Anderson. He was a dedicated employee of RAAP and retired after 33 1/2 years of service. Elton loved playing golf with his son-in-law, grandson, and brother, as well as deer hunting with his grandson. He was a member of Thornspring United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Elton Eugene "Gene" Anderson, brothers Doug, Duval, and Elwood Anderson, and father and mother-in-law, Theodore R. and Mary E. Hoback. He is survived by his beloved and dedicated wife of fifty years, Elizabeth H. Anderson; loving daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Frankie Poole, of Pulaski; very special and loving grandson, Chase Duncan and wife, Wendy, of Dublin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mel and Jean Anderson, of Dublin, Leslie and Sallye Anderson, of Christiansburg; numerous nieces and nephews; and two very special companions, his dogs, Buddy and Little Girl. For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that dayand not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Thornspring United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Steve McMurray, the Rev. Earl Hanks, and the Rev. Mike Honaker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visiting will be held Sunday from Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. The family would like to thank Dr. Kaatz and staff, The Good Samaritan Hospice, and Shirley Akers. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home Inc. Pulaski.
