Judith Galvani Obituary

Judith Marie Galvani, 68, of Hardy, Va., died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 26, 2009, after losing her courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on February 24, 1941, and was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jane Jackson; and a granddaughter, Ashley Shaffer. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Laura Wodzenski and Marie Arias; son, Raymond Matthews Jr.; grandchildren, David Williams, Taylor Wodzenski, Alan Wodzenski and Jimmy Shaffer; brother, Donald Jackson; sister, Maryann Special; sister-in-law, Maryann Waage; and special and dear friends, Nancy Bocckinfuso, Chris Cameron, Larry Iwersen, Brett Turner, Jennifer Fisher and Leigh Anne Brewster. With great thanks to Pastor Philip Bouknight, Pastor Gary Scheidt and Trinity Ecumenical Parish for giving comfort, love and guidance through this difficult time. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2009, from Trinity Ecumenical Parish, 40 Lakemount Drive, Moneta. The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 3907, Martinsville, Va. 24115. Her family will be receiving friends prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. with refreshments to follow. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount. www.florafuneralservice.com
