My great-aunt Emma was one of the strongest people I have ever known. I have many memories of her and my great-aunt Annie visiting me at my late grandmother's house. Those three sisters shared a bond I have never seen with anyone else since and they all hold a very special place in my heart. However, it is my memories of Emma in later years that most impress me. Eight years ago, our entire family took a cruise to the Bahamas. When I remember Emma, I will think of the 84-year old woman who traveled the world in much better shape than the rest of us. I always admired her strength and endurance to do such things in her later years and pray that God will grant me such longevity in my own. Most importantly, Emma was always valiant about maintaining familial contact no matter how infrequently we saw one another. When I graduated high school six years ago, she was the first to send congratulations. I regret that I didn't get to tell Emma I loved her as often as I should, but take comfort in the fact that she led a long, full life with minimal suffering. She was a remarkable lady whom I will love and miss and whose memory I will treasure forever! God Bless and be with you all!
