Ruby McGinnis Obituary

Ruby Via D. McGinnis, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Friday, August 14, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Hudgins Sr.; parents, Shannon S. and Rosa P. Via; and two brothers, Roy Alton Via and Joseph Allen Via. Ruby is survived by her son, Chester E. Donahue and wife, Ann; two grandchildren, Shiloh D. Williams, of Willis, Va., and Shannon L. Donahue and wife, Rosa F., of Ft., Myers, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Rachel Shanan Williams, Corey Raven Williams, both of Willis, Va., Maria Francisco, Angelino M. Donahue and Frances Sophia, all of Ft. Myers, Fla. Ruby graduated from Floyd High School and National Business College. She was a member of and held several offices in the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Club from 1964 to 1986 and they voted her Woman of the Year in 1969. She was listed in the Community Leaders in Virginia for her civic interests in 1972 to 1973 and was listed in the Who's Who in Virginia in 1975 to 1979. Ruby received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the International Biographical in February 1981 and was in the 1982 World Who's Who of Women. She was employed by and retired from Golden West Foods, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of McCormick & Co., Inc. of Sparks, Md., as a sales service manager for too many years. Ruby was a member of Cave Spring United Methodist Church. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her generous nature and kind heart. Memorials may be made to the D-Day Memorial, P.O.
