Phyllis Lackey Webb

Phyllis Lackey Webb, of Roanoke, Va., joined our Lord in heaven on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Phyllis passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous two and a half year battle with ovarian cancer. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Carl Marshall Lackey and Nancy Laura Thomas Lackey, of Roanoke; infant son, Waldon Johnson Lackey; brothers, Chris Lackey, the Rev. Clarence Lackey, and Carl Lackey. She is survived by her beloved family members, husband of 60 years, William Webb; daughter, Patricia Webb Price; son, William Daniel (Dan) Webb and wife, Bonnie; granddaughter, Koren Webb Jones and husband, Andrew; brothers, Horace Lackey and wife Ruth, Stone Lackey and wife, Ruby, all of Roanoke; sisters, Kathryn Akers, Winchester, Lois Kinsey and husband, Bob, Roanoke, Audrey Ellis and husband, Alex, Las Vegas, Nev.; sister-in-law, Ruby Manuel and husband, Lonnie, Woodbridge, Va.; beloved 23 nieces and nephews; 33 great-nieces and nephews and 35 great-great-nieces and nephews. Phyllis enjoyed a lifelong love and concern for all people. She is remembered most as one who gave tirelessly of herself to brighten the lives of others. She was a loving, gracious and wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who touched the lives of many everyday. The love and encouragement from her many beloved friends will not be forgotten. Private graveside funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev Dr. Robert A. McRae officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that gifts be made to Samaritans Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607-3000 or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105. Our family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support that has been extended to us.
