Atwell Hughes Wilkerson

Atwell Hughes (Nat) Wilkerson, 83, of Bedford, Va., died Friday, August 14, 2009, at Lynchburg General Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Bedford County on Wednesday, August 26, 1925, a son of the late Walter Holcomb Wilkerson and Hettie James Wilkerson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Lucille Dora Holdren Wilkerson. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and was a retired employee of Frank Chervan, Inc. with over 40 years of service. Nat is survived by a son, Walter Douglas Wilkerson and his wife, Bonita, of Plattsmouth, Neb.; a daughter, Carolyn Sue Lamm and her husband, Philip, of Amherst; two sisters, Mildred W. Arrington and June W. Mens, both of Bedford; and a brother, John W. Wilkerson, of Bedford; also six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
