Lillian C. Tucker

Mrs. Lillian C. Tucker, 86, of Monroe, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 10, 2009. Lillian was born in Monroe, N.C., on October 15, 1923, to the late Horace and Lena Crawford. She attended and graduated from Winchester High School in Monroe, N.C. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Maridean King and Mamie Davis. Lillian attended and graduated from Roanoke Beauty School in Roanoke, Va., where she met and married the late Walter Tucker Sr. She was an devout beautician as well as a hair model for various establishments such as Ebony magazine. Lillian was known for her keen sense of fashion, style, and trendsetting abilities. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Bishop Walter S. Tucker; daughter-in-law, Pastor Sharon Tucker; five grandchildren, Karry Houston, of Wingate, N.C., Cindy Meaders, of Monroe, N.C., Lillian Green, of Charlotte, N.C., Iris Webber, of Monroe, N.C., and Vianca Black, of Monroe, N.C.; three nieces, Louise Norton, of Bronx, N.Y., Ernestine Alphonso, of Bronx, N.Y., and Denise Knox, of California; one nephew, Carl Walls (Cathy), of Monroe, N.C.; and especially all her friends and buddies in Roanoke, Va. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2009, at Harris Funeral Home Chapel, 601 Winchester Ave., Monroe, N.C. 28110-3323.
