Nelson Glass

Nelson Glass, 72, of Salem, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 16, 2009. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving as a military police officer and also ranked as Staff Sergeant E6 with the U.S. Army National Guard. Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles Frank Glass and Mary Kathryn Glass; and brothers, Kenneth Glass, Harrison Glass, and Billy Glass. His surviving family includes his wife, Joyce Ann Glass; daughter, Pat Mills; sister, Christine Orick; sisters-in-law, Gladys Glass, Barbara Glass, and Jane Glass; grandchildren, Christy Moore and husband, Jeremy, and Dennis Mills Jr. and wife, Stephanie; greatgrandchildren, Coty Mills, Savannah Price, Kaden Moore, and Gabby Mills; several nieces and nephews, including Michael Glass and wife, Bonnie; good friend, Lettie Midkiff; and special companion, "Pudden." The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2009, in the funeral home's chapel. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. Roy Rogers will officiate.
