I have wonderful memories of Jerry, we first met when they moved to Blue Ridge and bought the store, I was 17 and we all became really good friends fast, I have loved Jerry all the years and will always have him in my heart. He would come to the office to see me and my Doctor would tease him and say "come on Jerry get in the chair" and he would start shaking and say no way I just came to see Joanne...
When he smiled at me I knew he loved me. Rest in Peace and wait for me and Robin at the pearly gates, We will be there....
Love forever

I have such wonderful memories of Jerry growing up in the neighborhood. Jerry lived down the street from us and it was always a treat when he stopped by to visit my brother, Paul. He came by one summer evening when we were just finishing the main course of dinner. We invited him to have dessert with us - he couldn't believe we were having biscuits and jelly for dessert! We always laughed a lot with Jerry. It was a joy to know him and I wlll miss him terribly. He was my other brother.

I remember one of the last times I saw Jerry - a long time ago - on a weekend outing with Katie. He was so happy, flying around the skating rink with Katie and Elizabeth - laughing and carrying on in his special way. Always self-depracating, he was laughing at himself the most. His smile will always be remembered, as will his gift of being a good friend. Men are not always good at that, but he was. He had a good heart and was honest and true. The world is a lesser place without him.

What a shock to hear of his passing. Jerry was a beloved co-worker. All of his friends at Architectural Wood will miss him and his friendly spirit.

50 Years of Friendship.
Jerry and I met when we live in the same neighborhood when I was 8-9 years old and we became good friends. He was like a brother to me. He introduced me to hiking and years later he tried backpacking with me on the Appalachian Trail. He came with my Dad and I to Smith Mt. Lake many weekends during the summer for several years helping to build my Dad’s boat. He tried to teach me to swim during those summers, as much as he tried it wasn’t to be, I still can’t swim. I wandered away from Roanoke, but we always stayed in touch. Jerry was quick to laugh and wasn’t happy until you were laughing with him. The times we got together are some of the best memories I have. I am very grateful to have known him and will miss him.

Jerry,
It's been forty-three years since we went to Fleming together. Following graduation our lives went in very different directions. The memories of our high school years, however, seem only to grow stronger and stronger as the time grows more distant.
News of your passing rekindles those memories. I didn't realize you were in the Seabees. I went through Seabee training in Port Hueneme, California in '66-'67. My gosh, were you actually there at the same time?
I hope the years were good to you.
