I did business with Don when he had his gunshop. I remember him talking about his travels. He will be missed. My sympathy to his family.

We are so sorry to hear this. Don was always so kind to help me purchase Christmas gifts for my husband. He was always so generous with his time and knowledge. He will be deeply missed.

Don was a dear friend to my family,
especially to my daddy,the late
Charles (Gene) Reed. As a little girl
I always enjoyed his many stories of
hunting wild game and his many travels.
Don was a character ! Although he
acted indifferent he would give the shirt off of his back to help someone.
I saw through that thick exterior as a
kid. I asked Don to visit daddy near the end as dad was bedridden and cancer
was winning. I know it was hard on Don,
even though he was also sick but never
mentioned it. As they talked about hunting and fishing, Don would look over at me with tears in his eyes, but
would not let dad see that part.
They once took a trip to Las Vegas,
but that was one story I never heard.
As I am writing this I have tears in
my eyes and my thoughts and prayers go
out to his family and Diane Bourne.
We enjoyed doing business with him
at Reed Lumber Co. and dad made sure he had the best of our lumber.
When I moved into my house after college I decided I might need a gun,so
Don sold me a "saturday night special"
When I told daddy about my new purchase
he called Don and asked what in the world was he thinking- dad thought I
was a Barney Phife and made me sell it,
and told Don not sell another one to me. I never got to shoot the gun, but I
kept the bullets, of course in a safe place.
My prayers go out to the family and
Diane Bourne.
