Michael, I can't really believe that you're gone. I know that God has a plan and we may never know just why this happened. I'll question that for many, many days to come. It's been 10 years and I still question why Justin's gone.
Just know that I'll think of you daily and I miss your smile so much. Guess I won't be able to get you back for making me ride in the back of that police car that night I saved your butt at 2am!
I love you and miss you dearly. You and Justin look down on us every now and then. Till we meet again...
Love, Tammy Jo

Michael Hill

September 13, 2009

To those who do not know me:
My name is Michael Hill.
I met Michael Andrew Quesenberry in 2002 through my brother Bunker Hill and John Walke. When we met , I was a sophomore and Mike was a junior and both of us attended Jack Britt High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I remember one night Mike, John, and my brother were on their way to see a movie, but since I was the younger brother John didn’t want me to go. I will always remember this night because Mike looked at me and said, “You can come to the movie with me as my friend”. Mike and I were inseparable from that point on. John eventually joined the Army and was stationed in Korea, and my brother attended East Carolina University. After they left it was just me and Mike, and everywhere I went mike was right behind me…and everywhere Mike went I was behind him.
I will always remember how kind and generous Mike was; he was raised by a good father who taught him respect and good morals. Mike would always join me and my family for dinner. After he would finish his first serving of food, Mike would look at my father and ask if he could have another serving, we never had left over’s when he came for dinner.
I finally met Lacey in High School, who I eventually married and now have a beautiful daughter with named Laila. I’m bringing this up because it was the junior/senior prom 2004 and Mike didn’t have a date. So after a long deliberation Mike joined me and my wife on a dinner date and a date to prom. We both took her to prom that night and had an amazing night. Mike and my wife then graduated shortly after and I was left in my senior year by myself, but that didn’t stop Mike from coming over after I got out of school to hang out.
It’s almost summer of 2005 now, me and Mike are sitting in his father’s house watching television and the phone rings. Mike answered the phone and after several minutes of watching his facial expressions I knew something was wrong. Mike hung up the phone with tears in his eyes and said “I’m being deployed to Iraq in the next month. I never thought they would call me to go”. I told Mike he would be okay and to just stick to his training. I said to him, “Forrest if you get into trouble I want you run just run as far you can run”. Mike laughed and said he would. Shortly after Mike was deployed to Iraq, while me, Lacey and Bunker moved to Florida with my parents. During Mike’s first deployment he would always call to say Hi and catch up on our lost time while he was overseas. Mike finally got his two weeks leave from Iraq and visited us in Florida. During his time in Florida we went to the beach and Sea World and even took him on a scuba diving trip, and got tattoos. This was last time I would ever see my best friend.
During the next several years Mike moved to Virginia to be with his family and completed another tour of duty in Iraq. I kept in touch with him by phone, but not as frequently as I would have liked. After he spent time with us in Florida I spoke to him approximately 5 times, which I now regret. Now I will never be able to speak to him anymore to say Hi or just ask how he’s doing, but I will remember the time I spent with him and treasure that forever.
I would like to send my prayers out to the Quesenberry family.
Sincerely,
Michael Hill

John and I are very deeply saddened by the loss of Michael. He was a great friend to John and such a polite young man. What a tremedous memorial service you had for Michael. The music and words spoken were such a reflection of who Michael was. He was vivacious and innocent and whose life had hardly begun. No one knows why bad things happen to those so young and full of life. He would do anything for anyone. I can not image how hard this is for you. I know you miss Michael tremendously -we miss him too.

To Michaels family, may God be with you in this hard time. I knew Mike in 8th grade more than I did in high school. In high school, he had his clique, I had mine...but, every time we saw each other in the hallway, there was always a smile given between the two. You could always count on Mike to have a smile on his face. My husband had gym with him in our senior year, and he told me some funny things that happened in that class. It is horrific, how something so horrible, can happen to such an amazing guy. I regret losing touch with him, and I vow to never lose in touch with anybody else, because life is such a short thing to waste. RIP Mike, you will be missed. Please everyone, remember him now, tomorrow, and forever!

September 10, 2009

Mike was like a brother to me for the few short years that I knew him. He was one of the few people I have known in my life who was good to the core. He was always happy and ready for the next adventure. He never said a mean word about anyone. He loved his twin brothers-I remember going over to his house every week to play with them. We went to prom together, graduated together, loved Michael together, and loved each other. I deeply regret losing contact with him when he moved to Virginia and I will have guilt over my choice for the rest of my life. It is amazing to find out how many people Mike touched. I posted a lot about Mike on my Myspace and Facebook pages, and was amazed at how many people responded. They all had great stories and experiences with Mike to share…most of them involved Mike laughing. He had a wonderful laugh. I truly miss him and I will always remember my dear friend.

I met Mike through my Husband, Michael Hill. They were best friends. I came to love Mike like a brother. He was so full of light and happiness-nothing got him down! We did everything together those last two years of High School. When he came to visit us after we moved to Florida, it was like we never left. I will never forget him and how he touched my life. He deserved everything good and meaningful that happened to him, because he gave nothing but the best of himself to others. It's a small comfort that he is with our Father now. But if anyone is suited for Heaven, it is Mike.

Mike was a good friend of mine. We attended Jack Britt High School together and had several of the same classes. It's so hard to believe he is gone. How can something like this happen to someone so brave, and amazing? I guess there are some things we will never understand. At times like this we have to look back and try to remember all of the good times. I will never forget any of our hilarious conversations, and the way he could make me laugh, when I was having the worst day. He will always be in my heart.
My love and prayers go out to everyone that knew Mike.

LISA HILL

September 9, 2009

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Mike was in many pictures Anthony sent me back, please let me know if you would like them. We will be praying for your family during this trying time. Please let us know if we can do anything to help.

I don't even know what to say...I can say that Michael was such a great person but those who knew him are aware of how amazing he was. To be taken from us this early seems completely wrong and unfair. We love you Michael Andrew and will cherish all of our fond memories of you ALWAYS & FOREVER.
