Stephen Austin Obituary

Stephen Howard (Steve) Austin Sr., 63, of Moneta, Va., died on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Steve was a veteran of Vietnam, having served in the Navy. He is survived by two sons, Stephen Howard (Steve) Austin Jr. and wife, Rhonda, and Brent Austin; two grandchildren, Amber Jane Austin and Tyler Stephen Austin; one brother, Larry Wayne Austin; many nieces and nephews; and many loving relatives. A funeral service will be conducted 5 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2009, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Dr. Ken Scoggins officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.

Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers. This has been a rough time for us but our father raised us to be strong and will continue to do so with the memories of him and all the good he had done in his lifetime. My brother Brent said it best"If there were more people in this world like him the world would be a better place"
