Dear Gary: I talked to you last semester and you still gave some advice on perspective, As we left the library at villa Maria College we said good bye and we hoped that students will remember how to render by hand. We are still using your exercises and teachings, we will be missing your constructive and helpful critiques. You will be watching us carry on your rendering and landscape techniques. Missing you, Geraldine Liquidano

I was blessed to know Gary as a teacher in various classes thru the school of architecture and planning, including spending a summer with him studying abroad. To Gary's family, from all of us who knew Gary at UB, we are so very sorry to lose him, and how much greater the loss for all of you. He was a wonderful man and a pleasure to know. We were all blessed to know him and what greater gift could he have given?

I was fortunate enough to have spent 3 months with Gary & Diane in Costa Rica in 1998 & I was always amazed by how much interest he took in each of us. He is the type of person who will always remain in my heart. He was an amazing man who was so much more than just a professor of mine!! My sympathy & prayers are with Diane, the entire family, & all those who were fortunate enough to have been around him.

Diane and All I have missed working with Gary the past few years. But I will always remember two projects we work on, Wind Tunnel and the "Sitting Devise Project". The chance to work with a sincere person and a excellent teacher will be miss but never forgotten. Dick

As a student in architecture school, I remember that after Professor Day had been placed on disability and unable to attend project reviews as a guest critic anymore, he came to a luncheon for a visiting critic. I had some questions about my school project, and knew that during the informal lunch, that Mr. Day would be the best person to ask. We talked for a while, and afterwards I thanked him for the taking the time to talk to me. His reply was “No, thank you – You’ve given me the opportunity to be a teacher again, even if for only a few minutes.” He truly loved his work, and for that I respect and admire him.

To Diane and the Family,
On behalf of UB's School of Architecture and Planning's Faculty, Staff, Students and Alumni, we extend to the family our deepest sypmathies. Gary was a member of our School's family from 1983 until his retirement in November 2005. Even in retirement, he was called back to campus to share his expertise, his warmth and the wonderful laughter. We shall keep the family in our prayers.
