Elizabeth Bishop Obituary

Elizabeth May Hoy (Betty) Bishop, 84, of Roanoke, Va., left us on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, to be with her Lord and Savior. Elizabeth lived with her husband for 67 years. They went to live with her daughter and husband, Patty and Vince Dickerson, in their home in Roanoke, Va. Elizabeth was a loving wife, housewife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and motherin-law. She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Hoy; and an infant son, James Leslie Bishop. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Forrest E. Bishop Jr.; children, William Edward (Eddie) Bishop, Patricia (Patty) B. Dickerson and Robert (Bobby) Eugene Bishop; six grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; sister, Susan Hoy Yeager; and brother, Col. William A. Hoy Jr., USAF Retired. Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, September 18, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Carol Johnston officiating. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
