Harry Martin Obituary

Harry Lee (Rocky) Martin Sr., 82, of Salem, Va., passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. He was born July 20, 1927, in Hemphill, W.Va., son of the late Peter Wilton Martin Sr. and Beatrice Hawkins Martin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred "Tootie" Dickerson Martin; and two children, Barry Lee Martin and Bonnie Ann Martin. Mr. Martin was a retired truck driver and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by two children, son, Harry Lee Martin Jr. and his wife, Vanissa, and their daughter, Jessica M. Jones and husband, Christopher, and their children, Taylia, Jordan and Seth; daughter, Joyce M. Young and husband, Robert, and their son, Ryan K. Young and wife, Julia, and their daughter, Ava; a brother, Peter Wilton Martin Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Margaret D. Terry. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Roy Kanode officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 18, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem, Va.
