Sara Hancock Obituary

Sara Lou Knibb Hancock, 83, of Roanoke, Va., died on Wednesday, September 16, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husbands, T. Reed Carlton and Hugh B. Hancock; parents, Leroy and Rebecca Knibb; niece, Julia H. Mallet; and dear friend, Lou Lombardi. Sara Lou was also known as "Miss Bubbles" with the AARP clowns, she was a volunteer with Good Samaritan Hospice and a life long member of Calvary Baptist Church. She loved to dance, especially to the music of the 1940's. Sara Lou is survived by her sister, Barbara Knibb Garner and husband, Bill; and her brother, Leroy H. Knibb Jr. and wife, Betty Tom; nieces and nephews, Royce Knibb, Leroy Knibb III, Pauline Schopplein, Gussie Jones and husband, Steve, Randall Knibb and wife, Amy, Jennifer Wacenske and husband, Bill, Rebecca Watts and husband, Blake, and Cynthia Garner; many greatnieces and nephews and many loving friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 21, 2009, from 2 to 2:30 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel where services will be held at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Donna Hopkins Britt officiating. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel & Crematory, 540-989-3131.

I went to the funeral today and it was beautiful. Sara Lou had many friends and family there. For those who could not make it, we still want to share our appreciation for your kind support and prayers. We all will miss her greatly.

Sara Lou shared so much love in this world and imparted kindness to so many friends and relatives. She will be missed by the many she came in contact with in her life. She was a loving person with a good heart for everyone
