Glenn Powers Obituary

Glenn Powers, 75, of Salem, Va., passed away on Monday, September 14, 2009. He was born in Duty, Va., on September 12, 1934, and was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Martha Powers; and his brother, James Powers. He was retired from G.E. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth, of the home; daughters, Susan Powers and fiance, Danny Cornelio, of Roanoke, and Julie Poff and husband, Odell Poff, of Shawsville, Va.; sisters and brother-in-law, Imogene and Eugene Kinder, of Tazewell, Va., and Corine Powers, of Tazewell, Va.; and brother-in-law and wife, Robert and Lynn Lockhart, of Salem. Also surviving are his granddaughter, Kelli Garcia, of Salem; grandsons, Joseph Poff, of Shawsville, and Daniel Cornelio, of Roanoke; and greatgrandchildren, Kaleeb Powers and Brendon Rudd, of Salem. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Lotz Salem Chapel with Pastor Brian Gordon officiating. Interment to follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Susan,
Just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear of your dad's passing. Even when he was so sick and a patient on our floor, he had a bright smile and kind words. Even after his surgery last year, and when patients are still drowsy, the first thing that came out of his mouth was "Is it dinner time yet?" with a big smile. You and your family are definitally in our prayers!
