Giles Williams Obituary

Giles Oscar Williams, 96, of Salem, Va., passed away on Friday, September 11, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Williams and Rainey McBride Williams; brothers, George S., Frank, Thomas, and Robert Williams; sister, Eula Williams Smith Rigney; and wives, Cora Perdue Williams and Mamie Perdue Williams. He served as Sergeant in the United States Army, where he was wounded in Italy in 1943, and was a retired tool salesman. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Fort Lewis Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonard Southern officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.

Giles was proud to be an Odd Fellow and a very active member of the PM Branch where he wore the Patriarch Militant Uniform proudly.He was great inspiration to us younger members.
