Berlin Flora Obituary

Berlin C. Flora, 78, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. He was a lifelong member of Ninth Street Church of the Brethren and a retired professional automobile mechanic. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marie Flora; daughter, Charlotte Bartley and husband, Bill, of Vinton; son, Everette Flora and wife, Debbie, of Salem; grandson, Brian Bartley, of Blacksburg; sisters, Lottie Jamison and Nelda Cannaday; brother, Elvis Flora and wife, Gladys; stepbrother, Glenn Thomas and wife, Pearl; stepsister, Velda Webster and husband, Billy; and mother-inlaw, Hazel Nichols. Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, September 18, 2009, at Oakey's South Chapel with the Rev. Patrick Starkey officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Oakey's South Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ninth Street Church of the Brethren, 1103 9th St., S.E., Roanoke, Va. 24013. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
