Buford Martin Obituary

Buford Karr (Boots) Martin, 94, of Blacksburg, Va., passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at Radford Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born on February 19, 1915. He was the last of eight born to James Arthur and Cassandra Matherly Martin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Shealor Martin; and grandson, Chris Kelley. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Felix Kelley; two sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Sue Martin, and David (Tot) and Ann Martin; grandchildren, Kathy Kelley, Meg Martin, Matt and Jenny Martin, Wes Martin, Carrie and C.K. Funderburgh; great grandchildren, Emily Martin and Kate Martin; and best friend, Bob King. Graveside services will be private. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 18, 2009, from 10 a.m. ,to noon at McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr., S.W., Blacksburg, Va.

My deepest sympathies to th entire Martin family. "Boots" was a wonderful, kind, and giving man. A great neighbor for many years. Comfort will come to all from the wonderful memories he left.

My deepest sympathy goes out to all that knew 'Boots'. I only knew him for a short while but he taught me a life full of lessons. He was a great listener and an adventurous story teller! My heart breaks that I didn't get to see him one last time.
