Dorothy Phipps Obituary

Dorothy Caldwell Phipps, 74, of Christiansburg, Va., and formerly of Blacksburg, died Saturday, September 26, 2009, at the Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born on December 15, 1934, to the late Walter and Bell Songer Caldwell and also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Phipps; brothers, Howard, Stanley and Houston Caldwell; sisters, Nance Dillow, Stella Sult and Edith Duncan. She is survived by her children, Vaughn and Sherri Phipps, Vickie McGlothlin; grandchildren, Eric and Kelly Phipps, Jeff and Stephanie Austin, Aaron Phipps, Angela Bland and Heather Hall, Louis and Robin Long, Hope McGlothlin, and Kevin Martin; greatgrandchildren, Carter, Jackson and Nathan Phipps, Kaitlyn and Brandon Austin, Michael Cook, Matthew and Dustin Long; sisters, Berniece Martin and Bessie Cook; and all the many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kelly Sisson officiating. Interment will follow in the Caldwell Family Cemetery, Craigs Creek. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg.
