Ruby Swim Davis

Ruby Swim Davis, 83, of Roanoke, Va., died on Sunday, October 4, 2009. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Leo Davis; her mother, Buria Swim; and her brother, Edward Swim. Ruby had retired from Eli Lilly and was a long time member of Huntington Court United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Sharon G. Davis and Karen L. Davis, both of Roanoke; her daughter by heart, Roberta L. Packard, of Roanoke; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Madeline Jackson and husband, Charles, and Mrs. Mary Carr; her granddaughter by heart, Marsie Trotta; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family would like to thank Medi Home Health and Hospice for their care and support during Ruby's illness. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Russell Cheatham officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
