Walter Jackson Ellison, 88, of Lindside, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2009. He was born on March 15, 1921, in Ghent, W.Va., a son of the late Walter Ferrell and Mary Simpkins Ellison. He was preceded in death by, three half sisters, Grace Norris, Iva Shannon and Sylvia Chapman; two half brothers, Lacy and Roy Ellison; two sons, Charles Lacy Ellison and Luther Sullivan Ellison; and a granddaughter, Tammy Ann Ellison. He is survived by his wife, Mary Wickline Ellison; daughter, Ellen (Bill) King, of Christiansburg, Va.; two sons, James (Louise) Ellison, of Lindside, W.Va., and Bill (Vivian) Ellison, of Radford, Va.; daughter-in-law, Delores Ellison, of Troutville, Va.; nine grandchildren, Kathy (Philip) Ballard, of Union, W.Va., Steve (Sharon) Ellison, of Lindside, W.Va., Betty Jo (Ernie) Atkins, of Union, W.Va., Randall (Lynn) Ellison, of Troutville, Va., Mark (Carolyn) King, of Christiansburg, Va., David (Noella) King, of Radford, Va., Bill Jr. (Kris) Ellison, of Charlotte, N.C., and Angie (Jamie) Linkous, of Blacksburg, Va.; 14 greatgrandchildren, Ernie Atkins IV, of Callaghan, Va., Tamara Adkins, of Union, W.Va., Jamie Ellison, of Union, W.Va., Jason Ellison, of Lindside, W.Va., Will and Nikki King, of Christiansburg, Va., Drew, Cameron, and Cody King, of Radford, Va., Jessica (Andy) VanHoy, of Blacksburg, Va., James Caldwell, of Blacksburg, Va., Taylor Ellison, of Troutville, Va., and Nicholas and Ashley Ellison, of Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, W.Va., with the Rev. Earle Arthur and the Rev. Jim Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow at the Wickline Cemetery, Zenith, W.Va. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. Steve Ellison, Randall Ellison, Mark King, David King, Bill Ellison Jr. and Jamie Ellison will serve as pallbearers.
