Truman Parker Obituary

Truman Branson Parker, 77, of Natural Bridge Station, Va., died Tuesday, October 13, 2009, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born October 29, 1931, in Natural Bridge, the beloved son of the late Berman E. Parker and Sadie Cash Parker. Also preceding him in death was an infant sister; and brother-in-law, Charles McCormick. Mr. Parker was a United States Navy veteran serving on an air craft carrier in the Pacific during the Korean War. He was employed by Bonded Fibers and retired from Burlington Industries. Truman was a farmer, avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by two sisters, Naola McCormick, of Roanoke, Kyula (Kay) Poff and husband, Joseph, of York, Pa.; four nieces, Pam Murray, of Madison, Ala., Jennifer Schuchart and husband, Tony, of York, Pa., Kathy Allie and husband, Vernon, of New Castle, Va., Bonnie Wingo and husband, Ronald, of Roanoke; one nephew, Gregg Poff and wife, Tammy, of York, Pa.; eight great-nieces and nephews; and three greatgreat-nieces. He had many special friends and kind neighbors in the Arnolds Valley area. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2009, at Harrison Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Wilburn officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Arrangements by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
