Betty Jeanne Enicks Altizer, 73, a resident of Roanoke County, Va., passed away on Friday, October 16, 2009, in her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Altizer; her sister, Peggy Wurtz; her brother-in-law, George Wurtz; her sister-inlaw, Linda Martin; her loving and caring friends, Bill Lindsey, Cathy LaPrade, Laura Brooks, and Marlene Williamson; her nephew, George Wurtz; her nieces, Jeanne Talhouk and Jayne Wurtz Ford; and her co-workers, Diane Reese and Carolyn Miller. Family visitation will be held this Saturday, October 24, 2009, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Ave., Roanoke, Va. 24018 and the Memorial Service will begin at 4 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.

It is with a heavy heart I offer to you my sincerest sympathies in the loss of your wife, mother and friend. Betty unconditionally offered her love to those that had the honor of knowing her. I am blessed to know Betty and to feel her love and then when Betty was unable to communicate she would give me the ever needed mom hugs. It was an honor to help with her care and I will treasure the Sunday afternoons that I was able to spend with Betty. Betty’s love was so strong that you could feel her love through her special giggles and in the last months through her eyes. Bettina, your mother loved you so much. She would watch you and respond to your voice always. I love her and will miss her so very much as I am sure you both will.
Please know that my thoughts are with you in the coming days, weeks and months.
With love,
Cathy LaPrade

What can I say at this most difficult of times. Betty was a joy and having her in the family was the best. She will be sorely missed.
