Mary Harper Obituary

Mrs. Mary H. Harper, 85, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 18, 2009. She was born on February 23, 1924. She was a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church and served as an usher for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Hurt; her husband, Charlie Harper; and a brother, Mr. E. Hurt. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, daughters, Maybell Hunter, of Roanoke, and Beatrice Haywood and husband, James Haywood, of Paterson, N.J.; grandchildren, Mary Hancock, George Jones, Marilyn (Rick) Cooper, James Haywood Jr., Mary Pointer, David Evans, Rocky (Wanda) Evans, and Yancey (Zena) Haywood; and a host of great and greatgreat-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special cousin, Irma Harper; and other relatives and friends. Special thanks is extended to the Rev. L.A. Lewis and the Morning Star Family; Staff and management of the ICU of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital; and the Springtree Health Care Facility for your love and care. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. L.A. Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. Friends may call at Serenity on Friday, October 23, 2009, from noon to 8 p.m. for viewing.
