William Stafford Obituary

William Lewis Stafford, 80, of Staffordsville, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital from a cerebral hemorrhage. He was born on January 19, 1929, at Staffordsville, Va., the youngest son of the late Harvey Bowman and Laura Cherokee Stafford. He was also predeceased by four brothers; and two sisters. He was a retired Virginia ABC Manager and a Korean War Veteran. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carylene Havens Stafford; one son, Dr. William L. Stafford Jr. and wife, Rhonda of Edgewood, of Kentucky; one brother, Harvey Stafford, of Mount Airy, N.C.; one sister, Dorothy Stafford, of Richmond, Va.; three grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate with the Rev. Jack Jenkins and the Rev. Danielle Jenkins officiating. Burial in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. The visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009, at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.

I remember Mr. Stafford quite well....he worked with my dad (William "Bud" Stiff)for years at the ABC store in Pearisburg. I enjoyed him so much and am saddened by his death. Although he is with my dad now and that makes me so happy!! God Bless you all!
