Margaret Sisson Schenk

Margaret Sisson Schenk, 89, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, October 23, 2009 at her daughter's home in Kensington, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everette S. and Kathleen Mundy Sisson and her husband, Robert Calvin Schenk. Margaret was a 1936 graduate of William Fleming High School. She worked as a secretary for both her husband's tax and bookkeeping service, and the Roanoke Jaycees. Surviving are her daughter, Sherrye Schenk, of Kensington, Md.; brother, Samuel Sisson and wife, Ruth, of Lakeland, Fla.; nieces, Annette Sisson Krause and Laura Sisson; nephews, Neil and Brian Sisson, and Lynn Schenk and wife, Dolores. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Samaritan Inn, 543 Salem Avenue, Roanoke, Va. 24011. A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by Pastor Bart Weakley. Mrs. Schenk's cremated remains will be placed with those of her husband in Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be announced.
