Curtis I can't put into words how much I miss you and how different things are here without you. How many people’s lives you impacted, how many people miss you and love you. There’s not a day that goes by I don’t think about you. I see something everyday that reminds me of you. I miss you so much, miss you putting a smile on my face when I was upset and telling me everything would be okay. I really wish I could hear you say that right now. Only you know that I pray to you and god when I’m upset and have nobody else to turn to. Your were a great person and a great friend. I can’t wait till that day we meet again, but until then I know your watching over the little town of Salem. I love you Curtis A Hackett. #3

I hate this thing... I read all these comments and tears drown my face... it's so hard to believe that it has been a year since you left us... In a years time a lot of things have changed, but one thing still remains you are loved and missed dearly... The memories we had good and bad you were always there... I still can't delete your name and pic from my phone it seems unreal that I can't call you and talk politics, go get something to eat, or just go for a little ride down Bradshaw... Baby Alex is getting big and I wish you could see him just once. I could cry forever on this thing but I know that's not what you would want... I'm sure you've had a good year in the sky and I know you've watched over me and mine I pray that you will continue to do so! I love you man...

It's been a year and I could never have imagined bein here now. I think about you every day. The things I've learned from you I never realized when you were standin beside me. And the things that we learned through our experiences can never be replaced. I thank God for you. You were here for sooooo many reasons. I miss you. I will miss you for the rest of my days. You really were my light and continue to be. The people you placed around me are amazing. I am living my days to make me happy. And it definitely took you to show me there's no other way. You are my apple! You are my Honey Bunny! And that's it. I love you and I'll see you soon.

Hackett Family,
I have known you all a long time (especially DeVon) and although I haven't seen Curtis in a while, I vividly remember his laugh and smile while asking constantly to 'hook him up with my sister' :) the good memories are what we have left and just as I did, look back on the wonderful memories and smile. The Lord said before we were born he knew the days of our lives. Even before Curtis was born, the Lord knew his day of coming and day of going. For him to take Curtis at such a young age only means he had special plans for him in Heaven. We are only here temporary, and our biggest accomplishment in life is leaving to go be with our Lord where there is no sorrow and no pain. God will heal your hearts in time. My prayers are with you all.

To Shirley and the Hackett family:
I didn't know Curtis very well, only saw him as a child at your home, but I did know Jessie(worked with her at Shoney's) and was a visitor at your home many times, and I know what an exceptional person she was, and I know she had to pass that along. I am so sorry to hear you have lost such an amazing young man, but may the comfort of God's love and your many friends and family carry you through, and may reflecting on your memories bring you some peace. Know that Curtis is in the loving arms of his Savior, and his grandparents and that he is still here in everyone's heart. God bless you all!!!!

As we look back over time We find ourselves wondering ..... Did we remember to thank you enough For all you have done for us? For all the times you were by our sides To help and support us ..... To celebrate our successes To understand our problems
And accept our defeats? Or for teaching us by your example, The value of friends, Courage and integrity? We wonder if we ever thanked you For the sacrifices you made. To let us have the very best? And for the simple things Like laughter, smiles and times we shared? If we have forgotten to show our Gratitude enough for all the things you did, We're thanking you now. And we are hoping you knew all along, How much you meant to us.

May God be with your family in this time of grief. Love, Kenny, Kim, Kara, T and Kelly Hartman.

When tomorrow starts without me,
as you know it one day will.
I don't want your tears to fall,
from the pain that you must feel.

I want you to remember,
all of our yesterdays.
And I want the memories that we made,
to chase your pain away.

I want the memories that we made,
To be stored inside your heart.
And pull them out whenever,
you feel like you're falling apart.

I want the jokes I told you,
To make you smile again.
And I want the love we shared,
To always be within.

Don't go feeling anger,
And ask God the question why?
Cause we all know when we are born,
That one day we have to die.

Remember what I stood for,
Laughter, jokes and love.
And realize I finally got my one way ticket,
To go home to God above.

I only saw Curtis two times in my life, once when he was about 2 years old and the second time about two months ago. Both times he made me laugh. I wrote this poem for him, and I hope he is having a very happy reunion with his grandmother Jessie Hackett. Shirley my thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless you and your whole family.
I love you, your friend Michelle Guthrie Bobbitt.

To the Hackett Family...You are in my prayers as you go through this terrible ordeal. I didn't know Curtis very well, but he came into where i worked all the time. He lit up the room when he would come in. May God Bless you all.

No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you as you grieve.
