Howard Foust Obituary

Howard William Foust, of 127 Hadley Road, Hempfield Twp., Greenville Pa., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at the UPMC Horizon Hospital, Greenville, Pa., following an extended illness. Mr. Foust was born in Greenville on March 12, 1930. He was the son of Floyd Ephraim and Mary (Wright) Foust. He was a 1947 graduate of Penn High School. He attended Thiel College and then Youngstown State where he earned his B.S. in accounting in 1962.
He went to work as a Signalman for the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad upon his graduation. He then served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. He returned to the Bessemer & Lake Erie R.R. upon his Honorable Discharge from the Army. He was employed by the Westinghouse Electric Corporation from 1955 until 1983 as Accounting Manager. He then worked for the former Mercer County Living Center as the Fiscal Manager beginning in 1984 until his retirement in 1998.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, Pa., where he served as a Sunday School teacher, an ordained Deacon, an ordained Elder, and trustee. He also served on the Presbytery Council, Shenango Presbytery. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Shenango Home, New Wilmington, Pa.
Mr. Foust led a full life. He kept the financial records of the Pymatuning Outboard Motor Club from 1983 until 2008. He was one of the original members of and longest tenured person serving on the Mercer County Juvenile Probation Department's Community Court beginning in 1999. He was an enthusiastic member of the Greenville Lion's Club, where he served as King Lion in 2004.
He was an avid golfer and bowler and loved spending time with the members of the Senior Golf League at Pine Hill Golf Course in Greenville as well as the Senior Bowling league at the Celebrity Bowl in Greenville.
Mr. Foust was a wonderful husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, caring brother, and giving friend to many.
He was the loving husband of Carole Lee (Jamison), whom he married on October 11, 1952. She survives at home. She is the daughter of Kenneth M. and Gladys (Platt) Jamison, who preceded him in death. Howard's surviving children are the Rev. Kenneth W. Foust and wife, Barbara Foust, of Lower Burrell, Pa., and their children, Carrie and Will; Randall Foust and wife, Kimberly, of Dublin, Ohio, and their children, Derek, Jessica, and Natalie; and Kevin L. Foust and wife, Lynda, of Roanoke, Va., and their son, Nathan. Also surviving are three brothers, Thomas Foust, of Franklin, Richard Foust, of Stoneboro, and Charles Foust, of Sandy Lake. One sister survives, Lorraine Hans, of Hadley; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary Kathleen Foust; three brothers, Everett Foust, Blaine Foust, and Floyd Foust; and a sister, Bernice Hancock.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 323 Main St., Greenville, Pa. 16125 or to the American Heart Association, 840 S. Western Run Road, Youngtown, Ohio 44514.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009, in the First Presbyterian Church, Greenville with the Rev. David A. Dobi, Pastor, officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Loutzenhiser-Jordan Colonial Funeral Home, 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville, Pa., and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday in the parlor of the church. Burial with committal and Military Honors by VFW Post #3374 will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville.
