Victoria McCormick Obituary

Victoria Katherine Ash McCormick, of Falls Church, Va., born September 4, 1946, left our lives on June 21, 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth McCormick; her grandson, Bryan Aubrey McCormick, of Blacksburg, Va.; nieces, Peggy McCormick Teague and her husband, Clyde Jr., their children, Heather N., Joshua A. and Trinity V. Teague, all of Blackstone, Va.; Angela Summerfield and her husband, Kevin, of Colonial Heights, Va.; Johnna Miner and her husband, Tommy, of West Greenwich, R.I.; nephews, Ronnie McCormick and his wife, Debbie, of Hopewell, Va., Joey McCormick and his wife, Frieda, of Richmond, Va.; five great-nephews, one greatniece; and two great-greatnieces. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Juliet Elaine McCormick, of Blacksburg, Va.; a nephew, Stephen Eugene McCormick, of Victoria, Va.; her father, Charles Baron Ash, Master Sergeant, United States Army of California; her mother, Irene Anna Sharpley, Private U.S. Marine Corps., Falls Church, Va. She was a 1969 graduate of Ferrum College and a 1980 graduate of Radford College with a B.A. in sociology and history, with a minor in English, and with a master's in history. She worked 23 years for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon. Her family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2009, at the Shorter Funeral Home, 1905 South Main Street, Farmville, Va., and where Services will be conducted 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2009, in the Chapel with interment to follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens, 22482 Prince Edward Hwy., Farmville, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research, Church Street Station, P.O. Box 750, New York, N.Y. 10008-0780 or www.michaeljfox.org.
