Uriah Radford Obituary

Uriah Nolen Radford, of Floyd, passed away Friday, November 6, 2009 at the age of 73. Born December 29, 1935, he grew up in Floyd, leaving only for a few years in the service of his country in the Army. He retired from Hercules after many years of service. Nolen will be remembered most for how giving he was. Whether it was helping his adult children or spoiling his granddaughters just to see them smile, he loved to use his own resources to make others happy. More than just helping family, he donated over 65 gallons of blood. He enjoyed working outside in the woods near his pond and helping his friends. His family is happy to announce that in his final days, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents, Uriah and Eliza Belle Radford. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Faith Radford; three sisters and their spouses, Virginia and Joe Anderson, Peewee and John Leffingwell, JoAnn and Gary Rivers; daughter, Rose Marie Henninger; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Evangeline Radford; granddaughters, Holly Henninger, Amber Peterson and husband, Joshua, Kayla Spencer and husband, Timmy; great-grandson, Shane Aiden Spencer; six nephews, three nieces, cousins and many in laws who loved him; and his mother in law, Ethel Smith. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Gardner Funeral Home, with Pastor Nick Ward, Pastor Erin Ward, Pastor Ron Graham, Mr. Joshua Peterson and Mr. Johnny Radford officiating. loved him very much and grateful for his salvation. very fond memories of conversation, challenging questions, and prayer with him at the parsonage when he came to mow. He was a wonderful man who lived the "christian" life before he was "saved" far better than most around him who were "saved" for years. The most loving, giving man I've ever met who genuinely cared about me always and truly unconditionally. I'm sorry I had to hear of the news of his passing today through
someone else Nolen truly knew how to forgive better than most christians and his integrity rose above most. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a dearly loved man.
