The Rev. Garnett Phibbs has left you an enormous legacy. Not many spend their lives so generously fighting for the rights of others and to be that person who is concerned about and cares for them. So many of us are too busy, or too into making a living - on the survival level or way beyond - to give that up to work for a better tomorrow and a more humane world. Rev. Phibbs' life has been and is a beautiful legacy to his family. A role model for the generations. I am sure he was not perfect, but none of us are. We all have our failings, but we do our best and hope that in the end we leave behind a world a little better because we lived. His life choices are impressive and speak to his spirit and soul.
May the example he set for all of you be the balm to heal your wounds and to hold you together when you begin to break apart in the battles we all succumb to within families, especially during times of grief.
