Buford Tuck Obituary

Buford Edward Tuck, 88, of 76 Parrish Road, passed away Friday, November 6, 2009, in the Danville Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 16, 1921, in the Callands Community of Pittsylvania County, Va., a son of the late Gideon Overby Tuck and Rosa Quarles Tuck. Buford had been a resident of Danville for the past 35 years and was previously a resident of Roanoke, Va. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart for his wounds received in combat. Buford was married for 29 years to Juanita Adkins Tuck, who predeceased him in 1971. He later married Wadie Kendrick Tuck, who predeceased him in 2003. He was employed for over 35 years with Pet Dairy and later employed for over 15 years with Dodson Brothers Exterminating Company. He was a member of Saint Luke's United Methodist Church. Buford was also predeceased by a daughter, Reatha McCroskey, two grandchildren, Stephen McCroskey and Matthew McCroskey, a daughter-in-law, Judy Tuck, four brothers and six sisters. He is survived by a son, Glenn E. Tuck and his wife, Irene, of Williamsburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Brian Tuck and his fiancée, Debbie, of Williamsburg, Va. and Eric McCroskey and his wife, Ann, of Roanoke, Va.; a son-in-law, Allan McCroskey, of Roanoke, Va. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Paul Phillips officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. with full military honors at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, Va. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home on Sunday, November 8, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times will be at the residence, 76 Parrish Road. My sincere condolences to the family of Buford Tuck. I talked with Mr. Tuck several times. I found him very interesting and very sincere. Wadie was a first cousin to my grandfather. My thoughts are with the family at this difficult time!

Glenn and Family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad, He will be missed. I have so many memories of our years past, He was a always a happy person who had a smile for erveryone.
