Henry Owens Hamilton Sr.

Henry Owens (Ike) Hamilton Sr., 74, of Buena Vista, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2009, after a brief illness at his home. Born April 11, 1935, in Amherst County, he was a son of the late Susie J. Hamilton. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Willy and Eugene Hamilton; and a sister, Virginia Gregory. He was retired from Local #77 of Operating Engineers. Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Judy A. Hamilton; three daughters, Donna Coleman and husband, Wallace, and Pamela Hamilton, all of Buena Vista, and Lisa Poston and husband, Mark, of Salem; two sons, Henry Owens Hamilton Jr. and Michael Hamilton and wife, Kelly, all of Buena Vista; nine grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; four sisters, Essie McDaniel and Madeline Bardis, of Buena Vista, Virgie Martin, of Staunton, Va., and Ludie Queen, of Buckhannan, W.Va.; and special family friend, Bonnie Morris, of Lexington. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009, at the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. W.A. Mills and the Rev. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2009.
