Nadine Robinson Stone, of Hillsville, Va., passed away on November 9, 2009, at Twin County Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on June 30, 1920, to Ellis B. and Edna H. Robinson. She was married to her best friend, Clifton Paul Stone, on April 27, 1942. Nadine was predeceased by her husband; parents; son-in-law, Don Gray Dalton; brother, Thornton Robinson; sisters, Marie Rotenizer and Mabel Earles; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hobert and Gertrude Stone; brothers-in-law, Thomas Stone and Ronald Stone; and niece, Debbie Montgomery.
She is survived by her daughters, Anglia S. Dalton and her husband, Christopher Ray Dalton, and Patricia S. Dalton, all of Hillsville; grandson, Bradley Gray Dalton and his wife, Shannon H. Dalton; great-grandson and the light of her life, Bradley Gray Dalton Jr., all of Woodlawn; caregiver and dear friend, Evelyn Hall; and special friend, Pansy Howell. She is also survived by her sister, Imogene Allen, of Radford, Va.; brothers and spouses, Lonnie and Pauline Robinson, of Hillsville, Va., and Hawthorne and Veda Robinson, of Woodlawn, Va.; sisters-in-law and spouses, Evelyn and Hubert Rose, of Evans, Ga., Virginia and Jack King, of Max Meadows, Va., Myrtle and Virgil Peverall, of Salem, Va., Bertha and Troy Marshall, of Austinville, Va., Reba Stone of Max Meadows, Va., and Goldie Stone, of Austinville, Va.; brother-inaw, Herbert Stone, of Hillsville, Va.; a host of special nieces and nephews; and church family and dear friends.
Nadine was a member of Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church for over 67 years, where her husband, Clifton, served as a deacon. She and her husband owned and operated C.P. Stone Grocery until their retirement in 1987, at which time they turned the business over to their daughter and son-in-law, Anglia and Chris Dalton. Nadine loved her church, her family and friends with all her heart. Her passions were serving God and caring for her family and friends. She was known for her natural musical talents and loved to sing her many favorite hymns, play her many musical instruments, cook, work in her flower garden and play practical jokes.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Her body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service. The funeral will be conducted by Elder Ronald Bowman, Elder Steve Gayheart and Elder Tim McGrady.
