Mariam Kallan Obituary

Mariam Kallan entered God's care on October 19, 2009. Born in Ambala, India, she resided in Greece, Israel, the Congo and France before moving to Salem, Va. in 1978 where she was a long time resident. Daughter of Gopal and Savathri Verma, she was predeceased by her husband, Samson Kallan, to whom she was a loving, faithful and supportive wife. Mariam was a loving, caring mother to her children and a wonderful grandmother to five grandchildren. She is survived by five children, Shushma, Shusila (Shube), Paul, Sabrina and Peter; and by sons-in-law, Brian, Geoff and Sean; and daughter-in-law, Michelle (Miki). She is also survived by her personal pride and joy, her five wonderful grandchildren, Katherine, Radhika, Madeleine (Maddie), Kiran and Joshua. She will be deeply missed by her many friends and relatives all over the world. May God comfort all those who will miss her in her home going and may His love shine upon all of us. The memorial service will take place at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2009, at First United Methodist Church in Salem.

Pete and family,
I know your mother was the light of your life and that your heart is broken. Please be assured that I am praying for all of you, especially you. May the God of all comfort provide His comfort to you and the peace that only He can give. And may you be able to share many happy memories with each other now and in the days ahead. God bless you.
